Position Summary
Coordinate overall management of student conduct caseload. Supervision of student conduct personnel. Serve as a Conduct Proceedings Officer in the adjudication of student conduct cases. Monitor student behavior cases and issues of concern. Serve as campus resource for faculty and staff who have concerns regarding student behavior.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree.
2-4 Years of Student Affairs/Development experience in fields such as, but not limited to, residence life, student life, student conduct, Greek life, counseling services, student organization services and law enforcement in a college community.
2 years of experience working in an area that works directly with conduct issues on a university campus.
Knowledge of basic computer software such as the Microsoft Office suite and the Macintosh operating system.
A successful applicant has the proven ability to multi-task investigations and cases as well as manages time well.
Experience working with conflict resolution and investigating issues of misconduct.
Knowledge of Title IX legislation as it pertains to conducting investigations.
Knowledge of Clery Federal Reporting Laws.
Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act as it pertains to students' educational records.
Ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Student Affairs or Higher Education.
Experience with educational program development and presentation.
Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as a conduct proceedings officer, meeting with students regarding alleged violations of the code of conduct. This includes contacting witnesses and complainants as well as attending hearings and appeals to represent the university. (75%)
Serve as a primary investigator on grave offenses of the code of conduct, interviewing students and other individuals involved to gather evidence. (10%)
Act as primary liaison to the CMU & Mt. Pleasant Police departments. (5%)
Administer the Advocate student conduct database. (5%)
Other duties combined make up the additional 5%. They include but are not limited to; input of data obtained from the Office of Information Technology regarding computer abuse violations; input of data obtained from CMU PD regarding violation of alcohol and drug policies off campus; working on educational programing for parents and students during various orientation activities; serve as a conduct consultant to CMU faculty and staff; communicate with parents/guardians regarding cases as needed.
