Position Summary
The Coordinator of STEM Education programs is responsible for organizing, facilitating and coordinating activities associated with STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) teacher preparation programs at CMU including recruiting events, the STEM Scholars program, retention activities and professional development initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in STEM education or a STEM discipline. (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)
Three years of relevant professional work experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills including writing, teamwork and collaboration.
Demonstrated project management and time management skills.
Ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
Proficiency using technology for research, analysis and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree.
Teacher certification.
Familiarity with Michigan K-12 educational system and standards.
Familiarity with teacher-preparation programs.
Experience writing proposals and completing externally-funded projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
In cooperation with the Faculty Director of STEM education and the PEU staff, coordinates the STEM Scholars program including scheduling cohort courses and advising students in STEM-education degree programs.
Coordinates activities with other STEM-related centers including the Great Explorations in Math and Science (GEMS) Center and Science-Math- Technology Center (SMTC).
Coordinates summer programs for STEM Scholars including Fire-Up! Teachers, pre-service professional development initiatives and study- abroad opportunities.
Assists the Faculty Director of STEM Education with developing and implementing a Learning Assistant program.
Develops, implements and assesses collaborative programs for STEM- education students in the CST and CEHS Residential Colleges.
Coordinates STEM activities for recruiting events and initiatives.
Identifies funding opportunities and coordinates proposal writing and project management for grants.
Assists with special projects and initiatives relating to STEM- education programs.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
