Position Summary
Instrumentation support for research and teaching activities within the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Is responsible for maintenance and utilization of analytical instrumentation used in teaching and research settings. Trains and supervises users, and works with faculty, students and postdoctoral individuals to solve research problems.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field.
Experience with the operation of ICP-OES and GC-MS instrumentation.
Experience with trace metal analytical techniques, ICP-MS instrumentation and gamma counter spectrophotometer.
Good interpersonal; and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team with faculty, students, and postdoctorals.
Must possess motivation, reliable work habits, and the ability to initiate and complete tasks independently.
Basic computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Chemistry or related field.
Experience in routine maintenance of ICP-MS, ICP-OES, GC-MS, ESI-MS, and MALDI MS.
Experience with the operation and maintenance of HPLC and IC systems.
Duties & Responsibilities
Compile standard operating procedures.
Insure operator safety.
Perform sample analysis, including but not limited to calibration and quality assurance.
Train faculty members, students and researchers in use of analytical instrumentation.
Track, perform and/or request equipment maintenance and repairs.
Assist students/faculty in generic data interpretation.
Maintain consumable cost records for equipment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
